Every staff member meets Michigan’s qualifications for a childcare worker and has experience working with children. Lead teachers hold a certificate or degree in education or child development, and everyone completes sixteen hours of continuing education a year.

Marcella Carter
A Rochester University graduate in Early Childhood Education, Marcella joined Train Station in 2011 and has served as Elementary Coordinator for after-school and summer activities and as lead teacher for the PreK+/Young Fives classroom. She leads the preschool day to day and is the first call for tours, enrollment and questions about your child’s schedule.

Trained, experienced and here for the long haul. Three of the team have been at Train Station for ten years or more, and every lead teacher holds a credential in education or child development.

Calm voices, clear expectations.
Discipline here is positive. Teachers model the behavior they hope to see, speak calmly, explain what is not acceptable, and redirect children toward better choices. The goal is self-control, self-direction, self-esteem, cooperation, and respect for God’s Word.
Children are taught in small groups by age and ability, so every teacher knows exactly where each child is and what comes next.
